The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Mimaropa and the Municipality of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro will be leading the conduct of earthquake drills in the region today.
The holding of earthquake drill today will test the evacuation and response plans of the municipality in an event where an earthquake with intensity 7 occured in the province.
As always, the drill will begin at 9 am with the sounding of the alarm.
Employees and other participating groups will be doing the duck, cover and hold protocol as long as the blaring of alarm.
Based on the document shared by the Office of Civil Defense-Mimaropa, the scenario will include the collapsing of the municipal building, the trapping of employees in the building and the occurence of fire at the second floor.
Below are the details of the Naujan earthquake scenario that will be rehearsed today:
The Naujan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) will receive the report of the incident and the Municipal Administrator will call the MDRRMO Chairperson to ask for help. The Mayor will dispatch responders to the area.
MDRRMO will establish a incident command post where a MDRRMO officer will take charge as Incident Commander. The post will receive information about 10 employees trapped and two department heads injured. Arriving responders will check in at the Incident Command post to get details of the situation. Medical teams will put up a triage area and search and rescue operation will be launched. Fire-fighting teams will proceed to the burning area.
The accounting of employees in evacuation area is ongoing at this point.
After an hour, trapped employees will be extracted and department heads injured will be treated in the triage area. The injured will be brought to the nearby hospital for further treatment.
The accounting of employees will be completed.
Safety officers will assess the affected building before re-entering its premises.#
