SLPRSD says Habagat to send rains over Oriental Mindoro

Southern Luzon Pagasa Regional Services Division (SLPRSD) says monsoon rains will be experienced over Oriental Mindoro. Kababayans are advised to take precautions as monsoon rains may trigger floods and landslides.

Cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Romblon and Marinduque. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail with moderate to rough seas. Forecast was issued today 12 August 2016, valid until 5:00 pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Inihayag ng Southern Luzon Pagasa Regional Services Division (SLPRSD) na makakaranas ng ulan dala ng habagat ang Oriental Mindoro. Dahil maaring magdulot ng pagguho ng lupa at pagbaha ang mga ganitong ulan, pinapayuhan ang mga kababayan na dagdagan ang pag-iingat.

Maulap na kalangitan may mahina hanggang sa katamtamang mga pag-ulan at pagkidlat-pagkulog ang iiral sa Romblon at Marinduque.

Katamtaman hanggang sa malakas na hangin mula sa timog-kanluran ang iiral at ang mga baybaying-dagat ay magiging katamtaman hanggang sa maalon. Ang pagtaya ng panahon ay inilabas ngayon ika-12 ng Agosto at epektibo hanggang bukas, ika-5 ng umaga ng Sabado.

ASEAN Power Dressing at PIA

In observance of ASEAN Week (7-13 August 2016), the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) held a special program on Monday (August 8) to boost ASEAN appreciation among its employees.

One activity was the wearing of South East Asian traditional and modern attires.

Six brave women and a gentlemen dared to share their taste for ASEAN styles.

Bilang pagdiriwang ng Linggong ASEAN ( o ASEAN Week, 7-13 August 2016), Nagsagawa ang Philippine Information Agency (PIA) isang espesyal na palatuntunan noong Lunes(Ika-8 ng Agosto) upang malawakin at palalimin ang pag-unawa ng mga manggag boost ASEAN appreciation among its employees.

Bakit mahalaga ang ASEAN?

Mahalagang maunawaan ng mga kababayan kung bakit may kinalaman sa kaunlaran ng kanilang buhay at ng bansa ang Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).



May isang paliwanag na ibinabahagi ang video na kinunan noong Lunes, ika-8 ng Agosto nang ipagdiwang ng PIA Central Office, kasama ang PIA-NCR at ang PIA Mimaropa, ang ASEAN Week.

It is important for kababayans to understand the relevance of the  Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) in their lives and to the general development of the country.



This video, taken after the Monday Morning Flag-raising ceremony  (8 August 2016) at the PIA Central Office, is offering one example of relevance. The forum recorded was part of the observance of ASEAN Week where employees from PIA-NCR and PIA Mimaropa joined in.

PPI Press Release: Silliman Mass Com Golden Jubilee Awards Extended

Nominations for the Silliman University Mass Com Golden Jubilee Awards have been extended to Aug. 5 to accommodate nominations still on the way. The winners will be announced Aug. 10, according to the Awards Secretariat.

The Mass Com Golden Jubilee Awards will be given on the golden jubilee of the School/now College of Mass Communication on Aug. 25 to recognize successful alumni of the University. The Awards are open to alumni who finished in the first 40 years of the college, on the rationale that it takes 10 years at least to build up a career in journalism or mass communication. 

The candidates for the Awards are vetted by an independent board of judges composed of distinguished practitioners, teachers and researchers in the field of communication.

The board is chaired by Dr. Florangel R. Braid, with the following as members: Dr. Betty Abregana MCann, Dr. Perla Rizalina M. Tayko, Ramon G. Tuazon and Domini Torrevillas.

Braid is founder and president emeritus of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication; Abregana-McCann is former acting president of Silliman University; Dr. Tayko is Organization Development Program (ODP) and Organization Development Institute (ODI) director at Graduate School of Business, Assumption University of Thailand; and former Vice-President of International Organization Development Association (IODA) in 1993-2001.

Mr. Tuazon is president of Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication and Secretary-General of the Asian Media Information Centre (AMIC); and Domini Torrevillas is veteran journalist and columnist of the Philippine Star. ###

NCCA calls for project proposals

A team from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) are in Calapan City today to facilitate a workshop on writing project proposals. Christopher L. Lucindo, head of the Commission's Eligibility Grants Unit says the development of the various forms of indigenous arts and traditions is essential for the growth of communities.
