Pagasa DOST raises public storm warnings over Romblon, Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro



Pagasa-DOST has raised Public Storm Warning Signals in three provinces of Mimaropa that are within the forecasted track of Typhoon Nona.
Based on Severe Weather Bulletin No. 6-A, Romblon is now under Public Storm Signal No.2 (PSWS No. 2) while PSWS No. 1 is in effect over Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro.
Classes in kindergarten, elementary and high school are automatically suspended provinces under PSWS No. 2  while kindergarten students are the only one without classes in areas under PSWS No.1
Tourists and commercial sea travelers are advised to consult Coast Guard Southern Tagalog District to check if sea traveling in and out of Romblon, Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro are suspended.
Under Coast Guard’s Memorandum Circular No. 02-2013, vessels of any tonnage are prevented from sailing when Public Storm Warning Signals are hoisted over their locations unless looking for shelter.

For Oriental Mindoro, it is best to check with the Coast Guard Substation Oriental Mindoro at 0947-9443845.
And for Marinduque, regular travelers may get in touch with Coast Guard Southern Luzon at  0929-6864188 or at Coast Guard Substation Lucena through 0939-4631052. 
Areas under PSWS No. 2 are expected to experience 61-120 kilometers per hour with 24 hrs. from the time the bulletin was released.

These kind of winds can tilt electric posts and power towers, tore off old roofs, uproot at put down trees, damage rice and corn fields and other damages.
