The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) advised the public and the disaster risk reduction and management offices (DRRMOs) in Palawan to maintain the monitoring and preparation for possible flash floods and landslides as the low pressure area (LPA) will continue to send scattered moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms over the province.

At 10 am today, the LPA was estimated at 325 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City and may develop into a tropical depression over the West Philippine Sea within two days.

The LPA on the Philippine Sea, estimated at 680 kilometers East Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigado Del Sur, may likewise develop into a tropical depression within 48 -72 hrs.

On the other hand, DOST-Pagasa said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) shall continue to send scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over the Eastern and Western Visayas, particularly over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, ARMM and Soccsksargen.

Residents in areas that may be affected the ITCZ were advised to coordinate with their DRRMOs and  to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides resulting from heavy rains. #
