Palace suspends work in gov't, classes in NCR, Mimaropa and Calabarzon

Malacanang on Monday suspended work in all government offices in Metro Manila (NCR or National Capital Region), Calabarzon (Region IV-A) and Mimaropa (Region IV-B) due to the impending passage of Typhoon Ruby in these areas.

Also suspended today, December 8, are classes in all levels in the same regions, according to Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte based on an action made by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa.

But Usec. Valte clarified that the suspension does not cover those who are involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster response and other vital public services.

Pagasa-DOST on Sunday night raised Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1 over Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island, Romblon, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite and Southern Quezon.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 is in effect over Calamian Group of Islands, Rizal, the rest of Quezon and Metro Manila.

Only Northern Palawan including Cuyo island remained under Public Storm Signal No.1.

Usec Valte likewise urged private sector in the three regions to consider the forecasted weather conditions in favor of the welfare and safety of their employees. (LP)
